Or was you like me breathing rather hard wishing the finish would come real soon or even sooner than you could possibly wish for. How was Valentines parkrun #408 for you? Did you scorch round the 2 lap course like roadrunner from the old cartoon screaming “beep beep” as you tore the tarmac to shreds? Or were you at a more sedate pace having a nice run taking in all the flora and forna that Valentines Park throws at you. I must first apologies for the distinct lack of run reports over the last few weeks sadly real life at times gets in the way and I actually have to work?.
Yours, as always The Secret Valentines reporter and the hardy bunch of squirrels. Keeping it a little shorter this week as I need to go dry my socks, shoes, and many other items see you all at event number #411 on the 8 th!!! Thanks so much everyone for coming, hope you liked maybe next time come when the sun is shining Great effort! Then we have Sue Wallis and Jen Milsom normal run Stewart parkrun Middlesbrough!! Wow long way from home. Phillip Tall who has ran the most at Basildon parkrun but looking at his stats lots of tourism doing all the Essex parkruns. Seems we had people from all over today Micky Wheeler seems to have most of his 398 runs at Nosuch parkrun which I believe is south of the river near a town named Cheam. Sameena takes the 1 st token for the ladies this week followed by the super Jen on her first attempt at Valentines with Michel Jane rounding out the top three great effort ladies.Īlexander Ward takes the number 1 token for the guys only 6 seconds from a new PB Akin on his first try at Valentines comes home with a great 19:12 for second edging Stuart into third.įIRST TIME TOURISTS-VISITORS Micky WHEELERįourteen wonderful tourist came to say hi today for their first time ever at Valentines, maybe to collect there letter V or they just love the rain and thought hmm lets go get soaked at Valentines. Two milestones today Tracy Peters smashes into the nice three digit bracket with her 100 th run awesome stuff Tracy, now Connie Portman being a junior gets to her first milestone at ten runs which I am certain there will be many many more. So huge congratulations to all named above really great effort if difficult conditions just image how fast you will be when the sun shines!!!! But have to say the five superstars above must love the rain. Of course it goes without saying when the numbers overall are down the amount of personal bests must also decrease. Jem Milsom another first timer at Valentines no personal bests this week in the top 10 ages graded but it was so wet!!! Three ladies this week and 7 gents Micky Wheeler takes top spot on his first attempt at Valentines with just under 400 parkruns to his name.
Hi vis heroes this week and not all even had an umbrella tuff bunch this lot!!!!! Zainab ACHHA, Jennifer AKROYD, Lucy BEMAND-QURESHI, Felicity BEMAND-QURESHI, Edward ELEY, Ivan FERNANDES, Yasin GULAM, Ed HOOKE, Raj KATECHIA, Naomi LAWRENCE, Rowland LYONS We still had a great turnout over 137 participants with a very respectable 11 volunteers and let’s be honest if walking jogging and running can be awful in the rain, volunteers deserve the extra special round of applause as they just keep turning up and cheering all your lovely people on.
Numbers this week where down a little, that is totally expected even yours truly was dipping ones toes in and out of the duvet before finally biting the bullet and jumping from my bed (well maybe not jumping more like rolling out in a complete mess. I would like to add no matter what age we all are young old spring chickens or chickens with less spring I did notice the odd smile here and there as people just ran through the puddles Must say today's Valentines parkrun could be classed as a wet race, come 9am Saturday morning the sky’s above Ilford Essex decided it was time to let it rain and oh my did it rain!! I will say in its defence even though it did get a little worse towards the 9.30am mark it had slowed a little.
